Axel Riotfin (originally Righteousfin—he changed his own surname for fun!) was born into quiet prestige: his parents served as trusted counselors to Queen Thalassa, and from an early age, as the smart student he was, it seemed certain he would follow their footsteps. Yet while he respected the crown and the bond his family shared with it, his heart wasn't in it. Axel was endlessly curious about strange gadgets lost at sea and the mysteries beyond the ocean’s borders. What he lacked was interest in the Water Realms’ politics. The Tideborn dynasty never inspired him, and he dreamed of something more communal, more choral.

He left as soon as his studies ended, and never stopped moving. Axel crossed all of Petra, befriending adventurers and finding friends among outcasts of every faction. His travels carried him even into Space, where he bonded with Miss Qylara Watson and her crew, recognizing in her a reflection of his own background. Later, in Elektra, he worked briefly within the government and learned modern diplomacy. But when the Alliance of Evil rose, wandering was no longer enough. He returned to Petra knowing he could matter.

Axel understood his strengths. He could navigate monsters and misfits alike, forging alliances while remaining largely invisible to those in power. From the shadows, he helped coordinate prison breaks with Fennevyr and others — meaningful work, but not enough for him. His hunger to do more pushed him into riskier acts, until discretion failed. He was caught burning the stables of Monstelvania Castle, and was thrown into the dungeons, where he made himself a daily problem. Word spread... Old friends heard: Shadowfynn thought of him as the perfect asset for war.

In his first moments of freedom, Axel had already agreed to fight again: This time, he would not stand apart from the Water Realms, but neither would he return to the Old Guard. He's now joined New Wave, the sea’s rebels, a movement that embodies everything he once wished existed. Now he fights in the open, ready to help end Nebotus and the Alliance of Evil for good.

Axel Riotfin is a Tank - Brute hybrid with Life Removal, Drowned, Shock, and Boiling skills, plus Trait Protection and Tough as traits.
