Mekaduk was a low-level thug working for the Cosmo Civilizations when he first saw Kirk Moonwalker in action. Mouth agape, Mekaduk watched in amazement as Kirk stole the Curse of the Cosmos right from under the Skeels’s noses and escaped in a shower of laser fire. In a flash, Mekaduk realized he wanted adventure like that!

Over the next few weeks, reports of Kirk trickled into every corner of the galaxy. His exploits already surpassed legend, and every time Mekaduk heard a new story, he became even more determined to somehow join the Star Sailors and start having amazing adventures, too.

But Mekaduk knew he’d have to bring tribute to the new pirate king of space before he’d be accepted into the crew. Something really, really good. But what?

Then it came to him: The Skeels had just acquired a high-tech cloaking device. Surely there wasn’t a better gift for a pirate than that! So Mekaduk put on a vac-suit and scuttled into the cargo bay, quietly located the crate with the cloaking device, and sent both of them flying out the airlock “accidentally.”  Then, when he had floated far enough from the Skeels, Mekaduk sent out a distress call on the Star Sailors’ channel: Rescue me, I'll make it worth your while! Luckily for him, it worked.
