Anax Gulnug is a vile, boot-licking toady. There’s no sugarcoating it. In the days of Diabolus Hellbringer, he did anything the Old Nick asked him to do, and now that Barbatos Rex is in charge, Anax Gulnug is showing him the same fawning treatment. You’d call him a brown-noser if he had a discernible nose.

Still, being a cringe little yes-man has its benefits. Barbatos Rex is confident that Anax adores him utterly, and puts a lot of trust in him. More importantly, he put Anax in charge of HR (in the Underworld, that stands for Humiliation Resources), making him essentially the head torturer for all of Hell.

Does Anax mind selling his soul to the company store all day, every day? Not at all. He’s doing what he likes the best: torturing innocent monsters and thrilling to their pained cries.

The old saying must be true—if you love what you do, you never really feel like you’re working.
