To close all the apps running in the background on your Amazon/Kindle device, follow the steps below:

Tap on "Apps" from the home screen of your Amazon Device.
Tap on "Settings" and select "Applications"
Tap on "Manage All Applications"
Select the App and tap on "Clear cache"
Select the App and tap on "Force Stop"
