Incognita was always a mysterious character. She never spoke to anyone outside of her card readings, and most of the time, she focused more on the bad events looming on the horizon than on the good omens. Had everyone paid attention to Incognita, they would have known about the Misery Era ages ago. But eventually, most monsters stopped listening to her readings—or wanting to know what was coming their way—because the future was terrifying, and no one wants to live their life in fear.

So, Incognita disappeared. It wasn’t that she had been pushed away; she simply didn’t care much about what others said about her. She just wanted to be more in touch with the universe—to listen to destiny itself. She ventured into space to watch the planets move up close, and, over time, everyone forgot about her.

Well, not everyone. Lumoona Iwa certainly didn’t. She always remembered Incognita’s talent with admiration, and as the Misery Era took hold in full, she began to think: It cannot get worse, can it? There must be light at the end of this tunnel, and we all need to know that it’s there. So she decided to look for Incognita. It took her a long time, but she finally found her.

Incognita was floating in the middle of a lost magical cave, silent—almost certainly asleep, or in deep meditation. She was surrounded by her tarot cards, which drifted slowly around her. A faint glow enveloped her, as if she had transformed during her long lethargy. Lumoona Iwa tried to wake her, but in vain. Nothing worked. But the moment she tried to move one of the cards out of the way, a furious whirlwind broke out. The cards spun like a blazing wheel, and when it stopped, Incognita’s inner eye opened and crowned her.

After a moment, Incognita Orbis spoke the following words:

“The song of deliverance will rise from forgotten throats.”
