Abominations have no known origin. No one can trace their roots back to a specific point in Monster History, or remember a time when they were not there—visible or not, the rumor of their presence a timeless menace.
Because Abominations don’t communicate with other factions, or are social at all, we can only measure their history in terms of what other factions know about them: We know when the menace has been present, when they’ve been seen, when they’ve made a civilization or two disappear. We know Abominations only for how they’ve been suffered by others.
However, regardless of their unknown past, their future is already here. Because something has changed. Or, better said, has been changed for them from the outside—specifically, from the Octalian lab in the heart of the Cosmo Civilizations faction. That’s where a Revolutionary Abomination has been born.
Is an Abomination born away from its faction an Abomination? Absolutely. An Abomination is an Abomination, wherever it might be born, whatever new skills it may have. It will always be one of its kind, and part of this ever-mysterious group which keeps the entire universe with their breath held.
So… This is Voreth Voidspawn. Voreth wasn’t exactly “spawn”. Its egg was stolen from inside a void, but it hatched in a lab, away from its faction. There, before its shell cracked, it was the subject of treatments and experiments within its egg. The result is groundbreaking: Voreth Voidspawn is an Abomination in all its glory, but it is the first one with the ability to express itself in a way that the rest of Monsterkind can understand.
Thanks to Voreth’s first interactions, we have already learned a couple of things: Abominations don’t enjoy noice. They’re too used to the silence of the big universe and their small void. They smell colors and taste the wind. Uhm… No notes on that. But more importantly to us, we have learned that Abominations do communicate between themselves, which we suspected and feared. And Voreth can communicate with them, while the rest of Monsterkind can only communicate with Voreth, who, by the way, doesn’t seem all that eager or willing to communicate with other species, in spite of being able to. Not even with the Octalians, however much they may worship its kind.
The problem is… Abominations were let out of their void by Cosmo Civilizations only because they counted on their willingness to collaborate with them and the rest of Nebotus’ Evil Alliance but… They didn’t ask to belong to any alliance at all. Or like the concept of alliance.
Maybe that’s something someone should have thought about before unleashing them onto the universe. They won’t go away easily. Not even by talking to their Revolutionary, Voreth Voidspawn.
