When Junkjowl was a young monster, his family was murdered by a roaming gang of Wasteland bandits. Although he survived, Junkjowl was alone and scared, left to fend entirely for himself. He vowed to track down the bandits and avenge his family—if he survived that long.

But survive Junkjowl did, thanks to his ability to use even the tiniest pieces of scrap as useful tools. He slowly built himself a palace of scrap metal and junk, all the while going darkly insane from grief, terror, and a desire for vengeance. By the time he was grown, Junkjowl had constructed a near-impenetrable junk fortress…and become completely mad.

While Junkjowl did eventually find and decimate the bandit gang that murdered his family, he was too far gone by then to be able to stop. Once the bandits were dead, he just kept killing, unable to get the taste for blood out of his soul. He’d gone too deep into the abyss of vengeance, and would never be able to find his way out.

That sounds quite sad, but it’s really fine when we look at it. After all, there’s no better mindset for a Wasteland denizen to have than “kill everyone and everything on sight.”
